Mark Revenaugh, DVM
Email: mark@equinepi.com
Dr.
Revenaugh is an Illinois native who has worked with and ridden
horses all of his life. After graduating from the University of
Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991, Dr. Revenaugh
completed an 18 month Internship at Arizona Equine Medical and
Surgical Center. From there he worked for one year near Chicago
before being recruited to work with Dr. Brendan Furlong in Oldwick,
NJ in 1994.
Furlong and Associates is a full-service "cutting-edge" equine medical and
surgical facility. Located just outside of Gladstone NJ, Furlong and Associates
offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic options to the sport horses
in the Northeast United States.
In 1997, Dr. Revenaugh authored the first license for veterinary
use of radiopharmaceuticals ("bone scan") in the state of New Jersey.
Since that time, Dr. Revenaugh was in charge of the bone scan department
of the New Jersey practice. Subsequently, he has conducted thousands
of bone scans on horses with challenging lameness and performance
problems. Since relocating to Portland OR, Dr. Revenaugh started
a nuclear medicine department. As of May 2003, the practice has
upgraded the equipment to include a "motion correction" program,
as well as a "shine" image resolution enhancement program, for
higher resolution of nuclear studies.
Starting in 1994, Dr. Revenaugh has taken courses through the American
College of Veterinary Chiropractors and has offered equine chiropractor
care since that time. Utilization of the principles for the veterinary
chiropractic care has provided important tools in Dr. Revenaugh's
integrative approach.
Since 1997, Dr. Revenaugh has worked as a Veterinarian for the
United States Equestrian Team and has been Official Team Veterinarian
at numerous competitions, (including the Three Day Event Team,
Show Jumping Team, and Combined Driving Team). As a Team Veterinarian,
Dr. Revenaugh has had the privilege of traveling throughout Europe,
Canada, USA and Australia (Sydney Olympic Games). Along the same
lines, Dr. Revenaugh has earned accreditation in the FEI, (Federal
Equestrian International). The FEI serves as the primary governing
body for all major international equine competitions, (World championships,
Olympics, etc.). Because this accreditation extends through the
Dressage, Combined Driving, Show jumping, and Eventing disciplines,
Dr. Revenaugh can function as official FEI veterinarian in all
of these venues.
Susan Emerson, DVM, Associate
Email: Sue@equinepi.com
Dr.
Emerson arrived in May of 2006 to join our practice as an associate
veterinarian. She is a native of Ontario, Canada and has worked
with and ridden horses for over 20 years. Dr. Emerson graduated
from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, Canada
in 2005. Following her graduation she completed one year of private
practice at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto (the top Thoroughbred
Racetrack in Canada) where she had been involved in the veterinary
medicine side of thoroughbred racing for the previous 7 years,
as a registered veterinary technician. She has a particular interest
in musculo-skeletal diagnostic imaging including radiography, ultrasound,
nuclear scintigraphy, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
In her spare time, Sue enjoys exploring, and photographing the
State of Oregon's many and varied nature facilities through hiking,
via horseback, or biking, as well as playing racquetball or tennis
when available. She also enjoys attending local events and facilities
such as rodeos, county fairs, Portland Saturday Market, and the
Portland Art Museum. When it comes to horses, Sue particularly
enjoys training young horses with a sound basis in dressage.
Staff Jon
Armstead
Email: jon@equinepi.com
Jon has been with NWEP since 2002. John is active in all facets
of the practice and has been involved in the horse industry most
of his life. Jon has also operated his own horse transport company
for over 10 years. Between these two businesses Jon is kept quite
busy. However he can still be found riding his motorcycle, or his
mountain bike in his spare time.
Vicki English
Email:
vicki@equinepi.com
Vicki came to the practice in February 2004 following her retirement
from Bonneville Power Administration. She has 3 adult children,
3 dogs, 2 horses, a grand piano, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Her hobbies include giving gratuitous (and unheeded) advice to
her kids, doing trail riding and Horse Beauty Shop with her horses,
and interfering with her dogs' campaign to destroy her house.
She also is a pianist and organist for her church, volunteers
at the classical music station, plays music with her friends, and
reads a lot. She is perpetually engaged in a losing campaign to
maintain order in her yard.
Amy
Rathburn
Email: amy@equinepi.com
Ever since Amy can remember she has had a passion for horses.
Now that she's older, she has taken it to the next level and enjoys
competing in local hunter/jumper schooling shows. When she's not
in the show ring she very much enjoys helping others cultivate
a love and respect for horses through riding lessons. She loves
seeing a young horse crazy kid evolve from a shy, timid rider into
a confident, skilled, young rider. Although she does love her time
teaching people about horses, her heart goes to teaching young
horses about people. Molding a young horse's mind is the highlight
of her free time. Although there are many bucks, bolts, and rears,
she feels the end result is completely worth it.
Rebeccah Lee CVT
Email: rebeccah@equinepi.com
At
the age of 6 Rebeccah was forced to take horseback riding
lessons to help get over a bad equine encounter with a friendly
looking but vicious pony. It took several years of being "stuck" out at
the barn with her horse crazy siblings before any interest
in horses truly developed. Since then, being around horses quickly
turned into a full blown passion. She now enjoys actively riding
her two Arabians "Robbie" and "Kastane". In
addition to her own horses she also enjoys starting young horses
and working with behavior problems in horses.
Kaylan
Carpenter
Email: kaylan@equinepi.com
Being brought up on a Thoroughbred breeding and racing farm
has set the stage for a lifelong addiction to horses. Kaylan has
defiantly met the expectations that had been set out for her, she
is a passionate horse lover and spends any time she can riding and
showing one of her three horses. She is an avid competitor
and is currently competing on the Oregon Quarter Horse Circuit as
well as the National Reining Horse circuit. She has come to
work for NWEP to provide office support and organization, and looks
forward to learning as much as possible about sports medicine related
injuries. Kaylan’s passion lies in the work of equine
rehab and she hopes her time here will benefit her life long goals
of providing therapy to performance horses and someday competing
in the Olympics.
